About Me
The Trait of an Artist
I guess my love of design started when I was a young boy. I couldn't stand when teachers would make me use color on drawings. Crayons or colored pencil on a 6-year-old's epic, charcoal-inspired masterpiece? No, thanks. It was the beginning of figuring out what looked good to me personally, of being opinionated on what I liked and disliked visually. The first trait of an artist.
As years went on, I found myself very interested in computers as they quickly became more powerful and accessible. I began teaching myself Photoshop and Dreamweaver in 8th grade, making websites before the age of social networking or blog sites. I would host ramblings, pictures, and my own techno remixes of 80's songs. By junior year in high school, I was known as the "media kid" of my class, making digital films with Final Cut and After Effects. Audio, video, motion, static, it didn't matter. As long as I was creating and being driven by my passion for quality work, I was happy. I knew then what my calling was.
From Then Until Now
I followed the call to the Art Institute of York and brought the skills I had gained from teaching myself for years. Turns out I had a lot to learn, which only made me more thirsty for knowledge. Tight deadlines and studio-style training makes for a very demanding week, and one I absolutely loved. My passion for quality remained, as the qualifications for quality continued to rise. This was my natural habitat!
Since graduating, I've found myself in many areas of design over the course of more than five years. I still completely love what I do, and still always want to know more. I've decided to go full-time freelance starting in January of 2010. It's been quite a journey, and I'm always excited for what the next day will bring. Thank you for stopping by!
